No Such Thing is a group of
musicians from the Illawarra and Shoalhaven districts of New South
Wales. They meet weekly on a Monday evening at the home of Yvonne and
Kath O’Grady in Kiama on the south coast of New South Wales many
travelling up to 30 kilometres to be there. The aim of the group is the
preservation and performance of traditional Australian dance music. The
No Such Thing philosophy is inclusive and the musicians
consist of the very experienced to the complete beginner with the old
hands giving the newer players a helping hand along the way. They
are under the
direction of Alan Musgrove who is also the collector of the music. There are 16 tracks on the CD being a mix of Waltzes, Mazurkas, Jigs, Polkas, Schottisches, Reels and Hornpipes. There is also in print a book of tunes entitled Tunes We Like To Play in which amongst others are the tunes on this CD. CD £12 and the book £15 We have great pleasure in having some copies of the CD Going to the Barndance and the tunes book, Tunes We Like to Play.
